SPOTLIGHT: A Conversation With Pastor Wes Modder

Written by Benjamin Smith

Monte Larrick and David Smith welcome the Reverend Dr. Wes Modder to this week’s edition of Spotlight. Pastor Modder is a former Navy chaplain and a retired lieutenant commander who served as a Marine in Operation Desert Storm. He currently is the lead pastor of the Rock Church in Orland Hills, Illinois.

On the eighteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, it is fitting that the podcast begins with a discussion of how Americans, specifically Christians, ought to live in light of the events of that horrific day. Pastor Modder gives us a glimpse into the integration of faith within the armed services and he details the valuable role of chaplains in all branches of the military. On a deeply personal level, Pastor Modder describes his determination to stand for religious liberty – and to trust and follow God – when his professional capabilities and personal integrity came under attack.

To conclude the podcast, Pastor Modder previews his upcoming book, Freedom to Stand, which is scheduled for release in 2021. If you would like more information about Rock Church or want to contribute toward publishing expenses of Freedom to Stand, please visit the Rock Church website or call (708) 869-1430.

Pastor Modder is not only a patriot, he is a civil rights hero. Listen to this engaging interview:
