The Real Motives Behind Green New America and its Radical Undertone

Do you hold a moderate or neutral opinion on climate? Then get ready to be sidelined or blacklisted as a “denier” or “dangerous person” by the growing number of radicals who believe there should be no room for dissent.

In earlier days, the color Green was largely associated with nature and the abundance of life. In the 20^th century, Green became the symbol of the fight against all things that destroys the environment.

In the U.S., the color Green took a new form with the introduction of the Green New Deal, a proposal introduced by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). So much so that the appearance of the word “Green” in news articles this year inevitably meant that the article likely would say something about the GND.

Yes, saving our planet is great, but the color Green has unfortunately become the symbol of radical environmentalism: a philosophy that considers humans as the evil cancer of the earth and proposes policies that stifles economic growth in the name of climate change.

The GND is only the latest in a string of environmental policies that have ushered in a new culture of radical environmentalism.

A collective radical movement has been garnering strength in the past two decades, riding on the waves of climate change fear. The new cult-like status of radical environmentalism allows no room for the moderates or neutrals to voice their opinion. Anyone who does is quickly hunted down and ridiculed in the media.

The radicals rely more on intimidation and personal attacks to silence dissenters. Seldom do they agree for discussion and debates, marking a very steep decline in the quality of our lawmakers.

The GND for example remains unopposed in its party of origin. Most of the democratic candidates for the 2020 presidential election have acknowledged it as a brilliant proposal. The GND even prompted few in the rival party to propose alternatives.

But the GND’s first major downfall came this past week when the creators of the policy acknowledged that the original intentions of the policy were far different than those mentioned in it.

AOC’s chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti acknowledged that the true motivation behind the GND is to overhaul the economy. Chakrabarti was quoted saying, “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing? Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing…. The interesting thing about the Green New Deal, is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.”

But, AOC’s team will persist on calling the GND as a Green policy. Besides, they will also insist that everyone should agree with them.

For the many objective, climate-neutral, genuine environment lovers like me, the whole 21^stcentury Green movement has been a big disappointment. Seldom do these policies really care about the environment. Even worse, they facilitate and act as pathways for the elites to exert control over the masses by devising energy restrictive policies in the name of climate change. The call for radical environmentalism is nothing but an invitation to partake from the large soup bowl of polarized political opinions and pseudo-scientific theories, that will do no good for the environment or for the progress of our civilization.
