SPOTLIGHT: Until It Affects You

Written by Benjamin Smith

In light of Governor JB Pritzker’s avowed priority to legalize “recreational” marijuana in Illinois, this week’s Spotlight podcast is definitely worth listening to as well as sharing with family and friends – especially anyone who might be on the fence about the subject of legalization.

As a long-time Emergency Room physician (with a certificate in Cannabis Science and Medicine from the University of Vermont), Dr. Karen Randall brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table as she describes to Monte Larrick and David Smith the devastation legal access to high-potency marijuana has brought to her community of Pueblo, Colorado. Dr. Randall solidly debunks the myths and lies the marijuana industry “sells” to make their product seem both benign and medically beneficial. Please listen as Dr. Randall tells the truth about potency levels, overdoses, increases in violence, homelessness, opioid use and lung disease, and reveals alarming information that points to a link between marijuana use and an uptick in genetic anomalies.

Give it a listen and then tell me what you think via email here.

Take ACTION: Call your state senator and state representative to ask them to vote against the push for legalized high-potency marijuana (SB 7). The Capitol switchboard number is (217) 782-2000. Unless there is a deafening hue and cry from citizens across the state, this policy will be foisted on us all with little to no regulation. If you’d like to know what that looks like, please watch or listen to the video presentation of Jo McGuire on the Illinois Family Institute YouTube page.

After you listen to this podcast, please take action! Do not put it off for a better time or day. Speak out now!
