(More) Conservative Christians (Still) Needed to Rescue Illinois
Written by John Biver
The above (slightly altered) title, which was added to a recent post after I wrote it, is too good to use only once. Conservative Christians are needed — and it is a rescue mission.
Is Illinois too far gone? Too many big problems that can’t be solved?
No and no. As bad as things are, Illinois can be saved. This state has many advantages — from it’s Midwestern location to its transportation systems, its natural resources, its number of great communities, businesses, churches and people.
There are even solutions for problems as massive as our state’s unfunded liabilities that run up into the hundreds of billions of dollars (see examples here and here). What has been missing is a sufficient level of participation in the process by conservative Christians so those solutions can be effectively advanced.
Many people have asked, or heard others ask, “what can I do?” Or maybe despair has taken over and the words are instead, “there’s nothing I can do.”
Illinois Family Action has been issuing a call to action: Run for Precinct Committeeman!
You can learn more about the position by following the links below. A newer article, written by a long-time Illinois activist and strong supporter of President Donald Trump, presents a new take on the role of a Republican Precinct Committeeman.
The article, written by Doug Ibendahl, opens with this quote from President Trump: “The forgotten men and women of our country — people who work hard but no longer have a voice: I am your voice.”
Then Ibendahl writes:
Nowhere have hard working women and men been forgotten like they’ve been forgotten in Illinois.
For too long, do-nothing, self-serving local Party bosses have squashed the voice of rank-and-file Republicans in Illinois. Being a Republican Precinct Committeeman in the past has typically meant being told who you can talk to, who you should support (or oppose), and what you should shut-up about.
Ibendahl goes on to outline how social media can enhance the effectiveness of a Precinct Committeeman, and calls social media “the new front porch of politics.”
People need to take it to the next level by securing a position in their local Republican Party, he writes. Ibendahl explains that you can utilize social media and “talk directly to the people.” “That means no filtering by the old GOP bosses. No blind support of do-nothing politicians…”
From the White House down to our State House, positive change is taking place. This is one of the best times for more people to engage by running for Precinct Committeeman. As Doug Ibendahl said, “You also deserve a seat at the Republican Party table.”
