SPOTLIGHT: Fighting Marijuana Legalization

Written by Benjamin Smith

We are pleased to feature Jo McGuire in this week’s Spotlight podcast. She serves on the board of directors for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association and co-chairs the Marijuana Education Committee. Jo is also a DATIA Certified Professional Collector and Trainer (CPCT) and a Certified Designated Employee Representative Trainer (CDERT) who consults and trains professionals overseeing Safety Sensitive Employees in the compliance of federal DOT guidelines for drug and alcohol screening programs. McGuire also assists educators with classroom and assembly-style presentations aimed at youth drug prevention and parent awareness and education.

Jo’s ministry is named “5 Minutes of Courage.” Monte Larrick talks with Jo about the name of her organization and why she is on a mission to warn everyone she can about the dangers of legalizing marijuana.  Jo lives in Colorado and has seen drastic changes in the culture of the state since recreational marijuana was approved by voters in November 2012, and points out that there now are more marijuana dispensaries in her state than there are Starbucks and McDonald’s combined.

Jo makes a persuasive case against marijuana use and legalization of Illinois Family Spotlight.
