Parents Decry Islamization in Schools Across U.S.

Pro-Islamic education is becoming a staple in public education from the Atlantic to the Pacific, where Islam is taught as a religion of peace, and those who do not embrace it as such are stigmatized as intolerant, bigots, haters or just plain ignorant – and some parents have had enough.
“In Florida … parents are protesting a newly approved textbook they say whitewashes Islam’s violent history of conquest and subjugation, while in San Diego, an angry father confronted the city’s school board about its partnership with the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR] in an ‘anti-bullying’ program,” WND reported.
Cloud of Islam lifting in Sunshine State?
Two years after conservative activist groups and parents complained to the Brevard County School Board that chapters on Islam in its 9th-grade history textbook only taught the religion’s positive history – to the exclusion of its promoted violence and inequality – a district spokesman announced that officials approved a newly revised replacement book for students this week by a 5–0 vote.
Roger Gangitano – the leader of the Brevard County-area activist group, ACT! For America – maintained that the previous book glossed over the dangerous and militant history of Islam … in essence, euphemizing aspects of the entire religion for students.
“They just omit the things that would be sounding negative,”Gangitano argued, according to Orlando’s WKMG-TV. “It’s not fair. We need to protect against indoctrination.”
But even though many of the suggested revisions to the textbook used in 2014 were made, Gangitano’s group and concerned parents say the improvements are not enough in the newer version.
“The problems remain that Islam is being portrayed in a far more favorable light than what would be 100-percent accurate,” Gangitano explained.
Regardless of the reservations 9th-graders will be studying the new book in the near future – to the dismay of some dissatisfied parents.
“[I]n the end, the 2018 World History book was adopted by Brevard Schools by the end of the school board meeting Tuesday night,” WKMG reporter James Sparvero informed. “Two parents were expected to protest. They petitioned the board that the new textbook is still partially ‘incorrect,’ ‘incomplete’ or ‘slanted.’”
Brevard Public Schools Spokesman Matt Reed did not share this view about the new history book, insisting that it induces children into acquiring valuable critical thinking skills.
“The important thing about the book is that it’s geared toward helping students to think critically,” Reed told the local television station, News 6, on Tuesday. “There are people who evaluated this book who found it to be fair – that it reflected history, as well as being critical of the rise of Islamic extremism and terrorism.”
Despite the fact that the book is moving forward, new protests are likely to be heard in the near future.
“Tuesday night’s textbook-adoption hearing was the last before new state law will allow anyone to protest a textbook – and not just parents,” Sparvero pointed out. “The new law will also mandate an independent overseer to look at the case.”
Yet Gangitano believes it will be some time before concerned parents and groups will have a chance to voice opposition to the new book and get it out of students’ hands.
“I don’t think very much will be done,” he said. “I think that the school board is limited in what their abilities are. They can’t change too much of what’s proposed in the textbooks. They’re already printed.”
Fed up in California
In Southern California, students are reportedly being misinformed about the truth of Islam, with school officials insisting that the positive rendition of the religion is for student safety.
“Amid concerns about a new anti-bullying program specifically to protect Muslim students in the San Diego Unified School District, one angry father confronted the school board about Islamic instruction attached to it – as well as involvement by the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations [CAIR],” TheBlaze reported.
Finally fed up with the pro-Muslim curriculum, parent Christopher Wyrick made his outrage about the teachings known to the school board at meeting this earlier this week.
“[I’ve held] many titles [over the years, but] one of them I will not accept is ‘infidel,’” the outraged parent told the school board late last month, according to TheBlaze. “There has been an argument over the years to keep religious beliefs out of school – especially any that happen to be associated with Judaism or Christianity. So at what point did you decide that it was okay to teach my children about Islam? How does your board justify spending our tax dollars on a program that’s meant to educate our kids on the Muslim religion specifically, yet only accounts for a very, very small portion of the harassment reported?”
When Wyrick’s 60 seconds on the microphone were up – as indicated by a buzzer – he continued to press on. He brought up CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) – a group that has been identified as an Islamic terrorist organization.
“[It] amazes me [that the district permitted] CAIR to come into the schools [and] implement a pro-Islam curriculum,” he continued. “What’s next? Teaching them about the five pillars [of Islam] or the conversion prayer?”
After an official indicated that Wyrick’s time was up by telling him,” Thank you very much,” the outraged parent pushed back.
“Aw, dude, [if] I’m gonna go, you’re gonna have to drag me outta here,” Wyrick said to the cheering of some attendees as looked at the board. “How could CAIR – [with] ties to terrorists like Hamas – [have an] ear on this board [and] implement its propaganda and hate speech into our schools in an effort to brainwash the minds of the young?”
The irate parent finally ended his verbal protest when he saw two officers coming toward him.
“You guys are hypocrites, and you guys should protect your children,” he concluded.
Shortly before Wyrick took the mic earlier in the meeing, Board Trustee Kevin Beiser attempted to convince those in attendance that the district’s policy on Islam is merely a measure implemented to safeguard Muslim students from being bullied.
“We will not allow Muslim students in San Diego schools to be spit on,” Beiser insisted before the crowd, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Some attendees shouted in protest to Beiser’s words, with one yelling, “All students should be safe,” and another asking, “What about the Jews?”
But Beiser stood by the district’s resolve to keep Islam at the forefront.
“[W]e’re going to try to do a better job, so when we teach in history class about Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity, we’re also going to teach about Islam,” he assured.
Reason for concern
Just as CAIR is allegedly pushing much of the pro-Islamic content in San Diego’s curriculum, it is also reportedly pulling the strings when it comes to how Islam is taught in Orlando – a matter that will likely raise many red flags for parents who are aware of its terrorist activities.
“The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, is also engaged in the Florida dispute,” WND’s Art Moore divulged. “But the FBI cut off relations with the group after it was designated by [Obama’s] Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terror-funding plot. Later, an Arab Gulf state designated CAIR as a terrorist organization.”
The Orlando regional coordinator for the Florida chapter of CAIR, Rasha Mubarak, countered opposition by the conservative ACT activist group by claiming that it was trying to push intolerance and hate against Muslims.
“[ACT is] using our students for their one intention – and that is to push their anti-Islamic agenda,” Mubarak claimed.
Three thousand miles to the west, CAIR is also busy influencing school officials to continue its implementation of Islamic indoctrination within the schools.
“[I]n an initiative to ‘combat Islamophobia and the bullying of Muslims students,’ the San Diego Unified School District, has formed a partnership with CAIR,” Moore stressed.
Many more incidents of Islamic indoctrination of students through textbooks in public schools were also noted by Moore in states such as Texas, New Jersey, South Carolina, Georgia, California and Oregon in recent decades, with ACT uncovering the trend of exposing students to more Islamization and less Christianity.
“WND reported in 2012 [that] ACT for America conducted an analysis of 38 textbooks used in the 6th through 12th grades in public schools and found that since the 1990s, discussions of Islam are taking up more and more pages, while the space devoted to Judaism and Christianity has simultaneously decreased,” Moore pointed out.
The double standard on Islamic teaching in the public schools was also noted by the late conservative leader Phyllis Schlafly several years ago.
“Drop Christianity down the memory hole, but give extensive and mostly favorable coverage to Islam,” Schlafly wrote in 2012, according to WND. “Even the mainstream media have provided extensive coverage of the steady stream of court cases and threatening letters from the American Civil Liberties Union aimed at removing all signs of Judeo-Christianity from public schools.”
