The MAIN Difference Between Cruz and Trump Supporters

Cruz Trump

Written by Pastor John Kirkwood

There are similarities between Trump and Cruz supporters but the prime difference is that the Trump voter is mainly actuated by one principle: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

If you despise the GOP establishment and you hate Political Correctness then Trump the “outsider,” who has challenged those things vociferously, is very appealing. The dismayed and despondent, blind with rage, just want a pound of flesh. RINO flesh. And who can blame them? Following the betrayal of the GOP leadership, the sale of pitchforks and guillotines is at an all-time high.

The problem with this fairy tale is that the GOP establishment is now siding with Trump over Cruz. And instead of rejecting their praise, Trump is marking the point of difference by suggesting that Cruz can’t get along with these people and that he can make “deals” with them. Do you think it’s a positive in the eyes of Team Guillotine when the likes of Burr, Dole, McConnell, and Trent Lott practically endorse you on the same day and in the same breath in which they slander Cruz as Nosferatu? It’s like storming the Bastille with pillows.

If you despise the treachery of the GOP establishment and you’re fed up with political correctness and you are governed by intellect over emotions then you aren’t persuaded by a reality star who walks out of a focus group staging a well-rehearsed tantrum.

The discerning are convinced by the guy who from the very first has challenged the Washington Cartel and remained consistent, the simple tilt their head and lend their ear to another stumbling tirade from Simon bar Chutzpah.

And this is the main difference between the Trump supporter and the Cruz supporter: the former is actuated by a shallow emotional pull toward a juvenile class clown shooting spit-balls and the latter is rallying behind the man who has challenged the establishment in Texas, in SCOTUS, and in Congress maintaining honor and integrity through the whole mine field and never dropping the baby.

So while the mosh pit hoists their digitus infamis in the general direction of anyone Trump screeches at, the adults in the room peer over their well-worn copy of The Federalist Papers, shake their heads, and prompt, “Look at the record not merely the rhetoric.”

By the way, I don’t want someone who is going to “deal” with the Washington Cartel, I want someone who is going to smash it to pieces.

And judging by their own words, the bogeyman that keeps the establishment up at night is the Senator under their bed not the narcissistic tycoon that shares it.

On another note, I don’t need a bunch of jabronis from National Review to tell me that Trump sucks. His attacks on Cruz and the establishment cozying up to him tell me all I need to know. Trent Lott’s praise is much more damning than William Kristol’s hissy-fit. I’m not concerned with Trumps critics at National Review – they’ve never supported him, but Trump is now losing men who have praised him in the past, like Levin and Limbaugh, and me.

We are at the very beginning of a primary. Only a very shallow thinker is even entertaining the question, “Would I vote for Trump if he’s the nominee?” The only question that should be considered in a primary is, “Who is the best candidate?”

And the answer to that hasn’t been more obvious since Reagan vs Bush. Ironic how the same rebuttals to Reagan’s candidacy are now being trotted out against Cruz.

And the difference between Cruz and Trump is as great as that between Reagan and Wally George. (Though Wally George was only acting like a reckless, unmoored artillery piece.)

I was a fan of the Donald Trump that was hacking the establishment with a truth machete but what he’s doing now is revealing his insincerity. And to the mouth-breathers who compare him to The Gipper: The Donald is no Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump is Howard Dean.

And frankly, Trump sucks a bit less than the establishment mannequins, but he still sucks.
