SPOTLIGHT: Political Involvement is a Nonnegotiable For Christians
Written by Alyssa Sonnenburg
This week’s episode of Illinois Family Spotlight features Dr. Frank Turek’s speech at Illinois Family Institute’s 2017 Worldview Conference.
Dr. Turek is the President of Cross Examined, a ministry dedicated to apologetics of the Christian faith. He is the author of the book, “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist” and is the host of the podcast, I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist.
In his speech, Dr. Turek challenges the idea that Christianity is to be separate from politics. He argues that, in fact, Christianity and politics go hand in hand.
“Politics affects just about everything. Politics affects your church, your family, your health, your money, your business, your freedom, your property, your school, your home, your security, your safety, the poor, the unborn– everyone and everything.”
He warns Christians not to confuse salvation with safety.
“Don’t confuse eternal salvation with temporal security. You need both…
Laws impact our ability to preach the Gospel.”
This is a timely and important episode that you do not want to miss.
