Ted Cruz: 12 Wins in the “One Big Beautiful Bill”
Written by David E. Smith
As we all know by now, President Donald J. Trump signed into law the One Big Beautiful Bill—a much-needed course correction for a nation in moral and economic decline. This bold legislation champions the dignity of work, the sanctity of family, and the duty of government to serve—not control—its citizens. By providing tax relief to working families, protecting the preborn by defunding abortion mills, and easing the burden on struggling seniors, this bill aligns with biblical principles of stewardship, justice, and compassion.
That being said, concerns about the federal government’s escalating spending are valid and demand scrutiny. U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has rightly highlighted the issue of excessive federal expenditures. He argues that the One Big Beautiful Bill fails to address these concerns and instead fuels the national debt with billions in new spending. Unsurprisingly, Paul voted against the bill. U.S. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) also voted against the bill for the same reasons.
The Illinois Congressional delegation was split along party lines. The fourteen Democrats voted no, while the three Republicans voted “yea.” U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-Quincy) celebrated the passage of the bill saying,
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a historic victory for American workers, families, and farmers. It eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, delivers permanent tax relief for small businesses and working families, and expands critical support for American agriculture.
This bill fulfills President Trump’s America First agenda by securing the border, funding mass deportations, and ending radical “Green” New Scam tax subsidies. It unleashes American energy, strengthens our military, and protects federal benefits like SNAP and Medicaid, ensuring these vital programs serve American citizens, not illegal aliens.
Additionally, U.S. Representative Miller led the charge to defend the sanctity of human life, securing a major pro-life victory by defunding Planned Parenthood and cutting off federal funding to the abusive, profit-driven abortion giant for one year. We hope and pray that Congress will make these cuts permanently.
Big Beautiful Wins
In their podcast, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and co-host Ben Ferguson ran down a list of highlights that were contained in the One Big Beautiful Bill. Cruz emphasized his focus on school choice and tax relief. The bill includes significant expansions to 529 college savings plans, allowing parents to use these funds for K-12 education expenses up to $20,000 per year. Additionally, the bill introduces a federal tax credit for contributions to scholarship-granting nonprofits, up to $1,700 per year.
In a press release, Senator Cruz also highlighted the elimination of taxes on tips, saying the No Tax on Tips Act will “help waiters and waitresses, bartenders, taxi drivers, barbers, and hairdressers all across America.”
