“Give your Great God, Great Glory.”

January 20, 2025, marked the 60th Inauguration Ceremony of an American President.

At this Inauguration, President Trump made history by becoming the second President in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms. The other President was Grover Cleveland, who served as America’s twenty-second and twenty-fourth Presidents near the end of the nineteenth century.

Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, of 180 Church in Detroit, Michigan, delivered the concluding benediction at this historic inauguration.

Over the past year, Pastor Sewell gained traction in the Christian community and the political community with his support of President Trump.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

“Pastor Lorenzo Sewell has been a vocal and passionate supporter of President Donald Trump.

In June, Pastor Sewell hosted a roundtable with Trump to discuss what Black voters in Michigan want from a President.”

Subsequently, Pastor Sewell delivered what many called a “powerful” speech on the final night of the Republic National Convention.

In his speech, Sewell remarked,

“Can you imagine President Donald Trump coming to a city and calling a pastor like me, a pastor who was born and raised on the East Side of Detroit?

I was mentored by murderers. I was a student of the street. But I had a radical experience with Jesus Christ that changed my life forever …

President Trump came to a church that is in a Democratic stronghold. He came to a church to listen to average, everyday Americans like you and like me …

He came to the hood because he cares about average, everyday Americans.”

Following this speech, Sewell commented on the Republican shift that he was seeing in the Black community.

Sewell told WXYZ-TV Detroit,

“When we look at our community, we see clearly that our community’s hurting, right? It’s been under Democratic leadership …

You can see black men supporting President Donald Trump. I believe that a lot of them understand that something needs to change.”

More recently, Sewell made stinging remarks regarding the impossibility of Christians being politically neutral.

Fox News reported on Sewell’s stance:

“The gospel message is a political message. The Bible is a political book from Genesis to Revelations …

It is important to be spiritual because you are political. You cannot be a spiritual person and not be political …

We do not believe that every Democrat is a demon, but we do believe that the Democratic Platform is demonic …

Adversely, we don’t believe that every Republican is a revivalist. We don’t worship a donkey nor an elephant. We worship the Lamb that was slain.”

Pastor Sewell’s Inaugural benediction prayer delivered on these convictions.

Pastor Sewell rightly accredited the failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania to God’s protection and sovereignty– a “millimeter miracle.”

He continued this by praying,

“You [God] are the One who called him for such a time as this.”

Indeed, God spared President Trump’s life for a specific purpose—for a specific time in our nation’s history.

And I praise God for a successful, memorable Inauguration Day.

In the concluding words of Pastor Sewell’s prayer,

“Give your Great God, Great Glory.”
