Vrett for Illinois House Dist. 53

Written by David E. Smith

As we head into the midterm election on November 8th, we wanted to make sure you were familiar with a great candidate running in your area for Illinois House of Representatives. We cannot emphasize how vitally important it is to elect conservative Republicans in this election. Jack Vrett is one of those candidates who can bring common sense back to Springfield.

At times there is little difference between candidates when it comes to their Big Government, tax-and-spend philosophies. However, as the policies and agenda of the Democrat Party become increasingly absurd, the choice between parties becomes clearer, and each election it becomes more significantly important to vote to retire Illinois Democrats at every opportunity we have.

The voting record and agenda of Illinois Democrats can only be described as far-left on the political spectrum. We could justifiably call them extreme. But the deceptive media in Illinois will never identify them honestly because they are collaborators in creating a socialist culture. State Representative Mark Walker, the incumbent, qualifies for this nomenclature as he voted for LGBTQ sex education to be taught starting in Kindergarten. He also voted to repeal parental rights regarding the abortion of minor daughters, place feminine hygiene products in boys bathrooms in our public schools and an annual increase in gasoline taxes! (See more HERE.)

But don’t take our word for it. Hear from the candidate directly in the letter below addressed to district voters:

Dear Friend:

I’m asking for your vote in this election!

We deserve safe neighborhoods, lower gas and grocery prices, and protection against constant tax hikes.  As a veteran, husband, father, and former prosecutor running for state representative in 53rd District, I pledge to fight for taxpayers, grow our economy, and keep neighborhoods safe by supporting law enforcement.

I’m an outsider to politics but have a deep passion for public service. I completed undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and law school at Marquette University. Rather than working for a law firm after graduation, I joined the U.S. Army J.A.G. Corps. I deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and was later assigned as a prosecutor.  Upon completing military service, I continued serving the public as an employment attorney for the Department of Defense and the State of Illinois. I entered private practice in 2017.

My wife, Rose Marie, and I grew up in the northwest suburbs, and we live in Arlington Heights. We chose to make this area our home because we love friendly neighborhoods and a charming network of small downtown businesses. We believed we could safely raise a family here, and the quality of our schools offered us peace of mind.

But now the future of our community is threatened by extreme policies from Springfield. Taxes and overregulation are forcing small businesses to close and driving residents to move away. Families and seniors are threatened by rising prices and new taxes make it harder to afford daily life. Victims and first responders are ignored by prosecutors who refuse to prosecute crime and by out-of-touch politicians committed to decriminalizing violence and letting dealers of hard drugs off easy.

My opponent, incumbent Mark Walker, is a big part of our problem.

During his tenure, he voted to raise income taxes by 66%, sponsored legislation that would’ve opened the door to a retirement tax, and voted to double the gas tax. He’s undercut local police by supporting the dangerous SAFE-T Act and endorsing Kim Foxx for re-election as the “national example” of criminal justice reform that’s unleashing a horrific crime wave even in our local villages. He’s accepted over $1.9 million in contributions from Mike Madigan and the corrupt “Madigan Machine,” even opposing 19 reform-minded Democrats who tried to oust Madigan from power.

Worst of all, Walker sponsored a radical bill – HB3447 – which decriminalizes the possession of drug dealer quantities of fentanyl and other hard drugs to just a misdemeanor. Fentanyl is the leading cause of death among adults aged 18-45.  This has caused the synthetic opioid epidemic raging through suburban communities, including the school system.

Radical Mark Walker hasn’t represented common sense interests, and we must make a change.  We need an independent, issues-focused representative who will fight for the interests of all residents of our community, regardless of political party or ideology.  I pledge to do so.

I humbly ask for your vote. For more information, please visit JackVrett.com.
