SPOTLIGHT: Geno Young, Candidate for Illinois’ 1st Cong. Dist.
Written by David E. Smith
For the first time since 1992, the constituents of Illinois’ 1st congressional district will be represented by someone whose name is not Bobby Rush. On this edition of Spotlight, David Smith and Monte Larrick welcome Geno Young, a conservative Republican candidate who is eager to bring hope and substantive change to Washington D.C.
As a life-long Chicago resident, Mr. Young is well-acquainted with the challenges that face the residents of his district – challenges that many other Illinoisans also face – and he shares how his America First platform will address these issues. This south side, south suburban district congressional district stretches from the Chicago Loop, into the Southside including Hyde Park and the University of Chicago, into the South Suburbs of Cook County and stretches into most of Will County and into Kankakee County, as far south as the village of Bourbonnais.
In the course of the interview, Mr. Young discusses his views on education, the COVID-19 debacle, the Equality Act, border security, crime and policing, pro-life and pro-family concerns, and more. He also tells how his faith has influenced his desire to serve as a U.S. representative.
