Why Is Legalized Abortion Called a Holocaust?
Written by Teri Paulson
On February 25th, New York Democrat legislators voted to join several other states in the legalization of abortion for any reason throughout all nine months of pregnancy–even as a baby is being born. Shortly thereafter the Democrat Governor of Virginia made remarks on the radio supporting the same legislation in his state including the “right to choose” (death) after the birth of a live baby. The Democrat majority under in Springfield will likely pass the same kind of legislation here in Illinois soon.
At the federal level, U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) authored the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to require medical care for babies who actually survive an abortion (as opposed to allowing them to die of neglect on the table.) This legislation was promptly filibustered into oblivion by U.S. Senate Democrats, including seven Democratic presidential hopefuls.
However the abortion issue has been muddied in the past, it is crystal clear now. This is the legalization of murder. A baby in the third trimester is viable. It can be delivered alive and both mother and baby cared for. The Democrat sponsored bills now sweeping the nation enshrine a woman’s legal right to a dead baby at any time during all nine months of pregnancy. Yes, it is that clear.
The mainstream media for their part doesn’t even care enough to report it.
After NewYork passed the bill there was no coverage at all on ABC, CBS or NBC. In an hour long town hall meeting on CNN Bernie Sanders was not asked a single question about it. Chris Hayes interviewed U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MD) for 11 minutes without broaching the subject once.
Author Hannah Arendt called this kind of thing the banality of evil. Arendt’s point was that evil often comes wrapped in a mundane package causing people to ignore it. Often people who do great evil are in most respects perfectly normal. They are polished. They are articulate. They are often intelligent and high-achieving. They come from all walks of life: politicians, businessmen, teachers, media personalities, etc. They can be friendly neighbors, loving parents, faithful husbands and wives. Many of them are “nice.” But “nice” should never be conflated with good. They are not good.
In the case of “progressive” lawmakers, they are baby killers in silk suits.
We often wonder how something like the Holocaust happened? We ask ourselves how so many people could be part of such terrible evil? Why didn’t more people speak up?
We don’t have to wonder anymore. If we as a society allow this abortion holocaust to continue, we will have a front row seat to the answer. Make no mistake, the spirit that is animating support for this legislation is the same spirit that animated the creation of the killing fields, the gulags, and the concentration camps. Human life is either sacred or it isn’t. We dare not be naïve. If a newborn baby’s life isn’t sacred, neither is yours or mine.
Consider the fact that most Nazi leaders didn’t actually kill Jews personally. Like Democrat leaders, they simply advanced the policies, changed the laws, and signed the papers that dictated the genocide. If there is a significant moral difference between the Nazi leaders’ participation in the slaughter of the Jewish people during WWII and Democrat leaders’ participation in the slaughter of babies I fail to grasp it.
Here’s the critical question: What will the rest of us do? Will we follow in the footsteps of the average German citizen during WWII? Most of them shut their eyes, closed their ears, and sang a little louder in church when the cattle cars full of Jews on their way to the concentration camps rolled by. Will we do the same? Will we simply allow this to blow over in a few weeks, or will we learn something from history and resist?
The Democrats have crossed a terrible line. They should hear us roar. Will they?
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…have nothing to do with such people. ~2 Timothy 3:1-5
Take ACTION: Please speak out! Click HERE to send a message to your state senator, state representative and to Gov. Pritzker. Ask them to stop targeting innocent pre-born persons and vulnerable women in Illinois. Ask them to vote against abortion expansion in Illinois (HB 2495). Please also ask them to vote against HB 2467, which will gut the Parental Notice of Abortion Act of 1995. (Read more HERE.)
