Republicans Guarding the Swamp
Written by Rob Chambers
Democrats have become obstructionists in the American democratic republic. They routinely oppose legislation designed to protect national security and the sanctity of human life. Also, U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and other moderate to liberal Republicans have participated to a great degree in this obstruction. How so?
Take for example the omnibus, Continuing Resolution (CR) spending bill that just passed the U.S. House and U.S. Senate. The bill neither included funding for President Trump’s wall nor did it defund Planned Parenthood. AFA Action called on President Trump to veto this bill because it funded abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. Moderate and liberal Republican leadership in the House failed to include language to fund the wall or defund Planned Parenthood because they feared it would cause a minority of Senate Democrats to vote against the bill.
It’s beyond time for Congressional leadership to prove their conservative rhetoric with conservative actions. Why should Speaker Paul Ryan and other so-called Republicans side with Democrats in favoring abortion, amnesty, and open borders? Why would Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader, also play along with Democrats? Don’t fall for the usual scapegoats Speaker Ryan and Sen. McConnell use. They excuse their refusal to oppose Democrats by hiding behind House and Senate rules. Both chambers in Congress have a majority, and it’s in the best interest of America for conservative Representatives and Senators to stand up against the Democrats un-American principles of abortion and open borders.
Abortion. Keep in mind that Tom Perez, the newly-elected Democratic National Committee Chairman, unapologetically declared that all Democrats must be 100 percent pro-abortion. Despite the hope that Democrats would repent of their antagonistic view of human life, the reality is only 23 percent of Democrats are pro-life. Speaker Ryan needs to get on the right side of the fence, but he is allegedly opposed to defunding Planned Parenthood because many moderate and liberal House Republicans want Planned Parenthood funded.
Open borders. Speaker Paul Ryan probably doesn’t want to fund building the wall because he and other moderate and liberal Republicans agree with Democrats who want open borders. In fact, it was Speaker Ryan who campaigned for open borders alongside liberal Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Chicago).
Now is the time to apply pressure to these RINOs to act in compliance with conservative values or send them home in their next primary election. We are committed to holding all Senators and Representatives accountable regardless of party affiliation. This means fighting for legislation based on principles that are good for the American Republic.
