What if you could leave Illinois, but never have to move?

Illinois Family Spotlight’s special guest, G.H. Merritt, says that it is possible.

G.H. Merritt is the founder of New Illinois, a non-partisan, non-profit organization with the mission of educating the people of Illinois about their rights under the U.S. Constitution to pursue separation and formation of a new state.

“… outside of Cook County, people do not have true representative government…

… you have a county with 40% of the population dominating the rest of the state with 60% of the population, and that absorption of power allowed… them to gerrymander and just take power completely.

Every Republican seems to agree that our country has been taken over by a post-constitutional junta that usurps power to achieve its insidious objectives rather than follows the rule of law. But when it comes to redressing those usurpations with the only tool James Madison gave us — federalism — our elected officials too often shirk their responsibilities. Worse, they declare that the egregious usurpations are, in fact, the law of the land.… Continue Reading

Texas’ southern border is being invaded.

That’s not me being hyperbolic, it’s the official state of the state since Governor Greg Abbott invoked Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution to defend against Mexican drug cartels crossing into the country over his state line.

“The federal government’s failure has forced me to invoke Article I, § 10, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution, thereby enabling the State of Texas to protect its own territory against invasion by the Mexican drug cartels,” Abbott said in a letter to President Biden. … Continue Reading

When in global history has a sovereign nation’s own government aided an invasion against its own people? At this point, we could build a 2,000-mile border wall up to the heavens, but if we don’t neutralize the malfeasant leadership at the DHS, they will simply bring the invaders through the front door.

Much like gas prices, which spiked to biblical levels and then settled at a very high and unacceptable baseline, the border numbers are still extremely high, but slightly off their peak.… Continue Reading

Last Tuesday, a remarkable thing happened.

Under a split screen of photos of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, a message appeared during a Fox News story about Mr. Trump’s arraignment over documents found in the FBI’s raid on his Florida home. In all caps, it said:

“WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER HAVING HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED.”

One of the central justifications for the Left’s proposed court-packing scheme is to claim that the reversal of Roe v. Not only is the argument based on the unconstitutional notion that justices should weigh the vagaries of public opinion before ruling but it also relies on the irreconcilable claim that empowering the public to vote on an issue unmentioned in the U.S.… Continue Reading

The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments this week on whether to overturn its Roe v. Wade decision of 48 years ago that legalized abortion.

It is considering a Mississippi law that bans abortions after 15 weeks – well before the established point of fetal “viability” at around 24 weeks. Many pro-life leaders hope the nation’s highest court will use this opportunity to reverse Roe v. Wade to protect unborn children.

The Left is doubling down in its attempt to stage a U.S. Supreme Court Coup by packing America’s courts with hundreds of liberal judges, arguing that doing so will “restore balance” to the courts and better serve Americans.

But although proponents of court-packing demand a higher quantity of judges, what Americans really need are quality judges committed to upholding the Constitution—without politics swaying their judicial rulings.

Standing out as a quality judge on our federal courts is Judge James C.… Continue Reading

Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3, of the U.S. Constitution requires legislative districts to be based upon an actual count of population every 10 years. The Illinois Constitution also requires this.

The procedure for drawing legislative districts prescribed by the Illinois Constitution is for the Legislature to complete a redistricting plan for legislative districts according to the new federal census, in the year following the census.

If the redistricting plan is not complete by June 30th, a commission of 8 members (half to be non-legislators), appointed by July 10th by each of the majority and minority political leadership, “no more than four of whom shall be members of the same political party,” will complete the redistricting plan.… Continue Reading

An essential principle of the United States is that it is a free country, with individual liberties guaranteed, and government power limited. That concept is now being tested. A deadly worldwide pandemic has led to draconian lockdowns, forced closings of businesses, and even mandatory “stay at home” orders, some with Orwellian, friendly sounding names like “Safer at Home” or “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” – but still mandatory and enforced by police. … Continue Reading

Upon delivering two articles of impeachment to the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that Mr. Trump was guilty of “an assault on the Constitution of the United States.”

Wow. That was some phone call he made to Ukraine’s president. Who knew that, if unaddressed, it would unravel the nation’s founding document?

In any case, Mrs. Pelosi’s newfound, if selective, respect for the U.S. Constitution is refreshing.

That’s the way America’s Marxists, socialists and many liberals operate when it comes to the U.S. Constitution, especially the First Amendment.

Extreme leftists such as U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), were elected to the U.S. House of Representatives this year. They have a lot of radical policy ideas they’d love to see enacted, but the reality is that they are powerless to implement any of them as mere individual members of Congress. But a dangerous and erroneous premise has persisted in our political system that if somehow those individuals got appointed to federal judgeships, they would have the ability to unilaterally enact any policy they choose by granting legal groups standing in court cases – and have that decision be regarded as the law of the land.… Continue Reading
