One of the first things President-elect Donald Trump says he will do when he returns to the Oval Office is close and disband the Department of Education. He said:

“We are going to send all education, [along with its corresponding] work and needs, back to the states. We want them [i.e., the states] to run the education of our children because they’ll do a much better job of it. … We spend more money per pupil, by three times, than any other nation, and yet we are [approaching] the bottom; we’re one of the worst.

When someone wants to complain about how our most respected news outlets once attempted to look “objective” but are now dwelling on performative activism, see Time magazine.

Time magazine is a shadow of its former self. Every issue is a “double issue,” since no one needs a “weekly news magazine” at this late date. The cover of the June 20/27 issue looks like graffiti, or an overworked chalkboard. Many people today, especially the young, are making some terrible long-term decisions, and it’s because they assume that the “experts” are right when it comes to catastrophic man-made global warming. They buy the notion that we only have 12 years of life left on earth:

• Many of them are not investing for their future. Why should they, if they have no future?

• Many are experiencing depression because of climate change.

• Many are choosing to not have children, so they can save the planet.
