It is vital that we send a serious conservative to Congress who will work diligently to address inflation, the economy, open borders, transgender insanity, parental rights, the size (and spending) of our federal government, religious liberty and lawfare, to name a few policy priorities. James Marter is the Republican nominee who is IFA’s pro-life/pro-family conservative choice for the 14th Congressional District.

Marter is trying to unseat Congresswoman Lauren Underwood in the General Election on November 5th.… Continue Reading

In this episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick interviews attorney David Shestokas, a former 2022 candidate for Illinois Attorney General. Mr. Shestokas is involved in the battle for election integrity, and is the author of two must-read books: Creating the Declaration of Independence and Constitutional Soundbites.

In this episode, Shestokas emphasizes the important role that the Declaration of Independence currently plays in preserving American freedoms. He notes,

“What the Constitution is intended to do is to execute the ideals that are found in the Declaration of Independence… the Constitution itself is a pretty mechanical document, but the Declaration of Independence defines really what it means to be an American.”

When asked about the public reaction to these photographs, Scheidler notes,

We expected to see more hostility and anger and we’ve had some incidents… But, what I’ve found more notable is kind of a lack of curiosity… it seems more difficult to get people to take a piece of literature from you… That’s troubling.

In this podcast episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick interviews Dr. Voddie Baucham regarding the issues of education, worldview, and critical race theory. The latter threatening to divide the Church and nation. There is an agenda to push a “false divide” between black and white people.
In this edition of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick has an interesting conversation with Kirk Smith, executive director of the Illinois Christian Home Educators (ICHE). Over the weekend of May 20th, ICHE hosted their annual homeschool conference at Olivet Nazarene University where families were not only encouraged to educate their children academically, but educate them spiritually.

When asked about the difference between public school and home school, Smith points out that children in government systems are often being taught anti-Christian morals and deceptive worldly philosophies.… Continue Reading

In this week’s episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick converses with Anthony Catella, a candidate for the St. Charles library board. The two discuss theology, the military, and why t’s important to run for local office in your community.

Mr. Catella has a deep sense of civic obligation and service. This sense of service motivated him to enlist in the Army, to become a Priest and serve in the Priesthood. … Continue Reading

In this episode of Illinois Family Spotlight, we’re highlighting the work of the Waterleaf Women’s Center, located directly across the street from the mega Planned Parenthood Center in Aurora, Illinois. The contrast between the two organizations could not possibly be starker. During the 2022 Fall campaign of 40 Days For Life, IFI’s Monte Larrick conversed with Waterleaf’s director, Julie Garafalo, about the vital impact the organization is having on the community.… Continue Reading

Ms. Murray sat down recently with Monte Larrick to discuss her qualifications to serve in the Illinois Senate, her proposed PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS, her experience with the 2021 Oak Brook Mall Christmas shootings and the policy differences with her opponent.

On the need for a PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS in Illinois Ms. Murray stated:

Could the Fourteenth Amendment, specifically the Equal Protection Clause, be the means by which Roe v. Beginning with the question of what “pro-life” really means, Dr. Jacobs discusses his reservations about basing law on states’ rights and shares why he feels the issue of equality ought to be the essence of the pro-life movement.… Continue Reading

Money, power, and control – it seems that this trio are at the root of most of the decisions, directives, and policies in Illinois. In their conversation at the recent Illinois Conservative Union conference, Monte Larrick and current State Senator and gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey discuss several issues where the desire for power and wealth appears to be blinding our legislators to the express will of their constituents.

Larrick and Bailey specifically address proposed Illinois Senate Floor amendments to the Parental Notice of Abortion Act (HB 3173_ and the Healthcare Right of Conscience Act (SB 1169), as well as the Democrats’ self-serving remap efforts.… Continue Reading

Where do we go from here? Our state is currently suffocating under the weight of massive debt and failed Democratic policies. Yet, former state representative Jeanne Ives says there is hope for Illinois conservatives. She suggests the Republican Party focus on promoting truth, electing conservatives to local governing bodies and boards, and insisting on competency from candidates and government – some TLC, if you will. Jeanne also details the three big issues on which Republicans must stand in unity and gives insight on the compensation Illinois taxpayers pay our public “servants” (warning, you might need to monitor your blood pressure).… Continue Reading

Two hundred and two years after achieving statehood, Illinois – the Land of Lincoln – is more commonly associated with political and electoral corruption than with Honest Abe.
A week has passed since the general election and still, questions loom – among them, who and why? Election fraud has left the outcome of the presidential race (as well as other national and state contests) up in the air, and serious doubts remain as to the integrity of the voting and tabulating process. Many Christians are also wondering why God has allowed such confusion to happen and where is He in the midst of this political mess.… Continue Reading

In case you haven’t noticed, life is hectic right now, especially in politics. Nearly every person is spinning theories about repairing our political system or gloating over the president’s illness, or how one party is the unique savior of the republic. Reverend Franklin Graham disagrees and instead posits that only Christ and Him crucified can repair human lives, thus the culture, and thus human politics.

This episode is a re-air of the interview IFI’s media director, Monte Larrick, did with Reverend Graham directly before IFI’s fall fundraising banquet in 2019.… Continue Reading

In advance of the upcoming March for Life Chicago, Monte Larrick interviewed Eric Scheidler to talk about the big March, but looming in the background is the recent passage of a big anti-life law in Illinois, which prompts some to ask: why should we rally and march for life?

After that, they discuss activating more people for the pro-life movement, what the Pro-Life Action League does for the unborn, a potential legislative reversal of the parental notice of abortion in Illinois, how constituents could lobby their pro-abortion lawmakers against it, sex trafficking and parental notice, and is abortion coming to the public schools?… Continue Reading

This week on Illinois Family Spotlight we welcome Star Parker, founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), a policy institute based in Washington, D.C. that promotes market-based solutions to fight poverty.

IFI’s own Monte Larrick sat down with Ms. Parker while she was attending a recent summit on violence and poverty with pastors and community leaders in Chicago. Their conversation delves into the root cause of the violence and poverty that is destroying urban communities: breakdown of the family; lack of paternal influence; the perpetual welfare state mentality of big government; excessive taxation and regulation that suppress economic development and growth in black neighborhoods and communities, and much more.… Continue Reading

Early in the conversation, Julaine Appling stated her premise:

“Everything rides, rests, rises, falls on families. Whether you’re talking about a community, a state or a nation. And so when these families are prosperous, thriving — I’d define it this way — when these families are independent of government, the state is in a good position.”… Continue Reading

Well over 6,000 bills were introduced between January 11, 2017 and May 31, 2017. Dozens of these bills were on our radar screen. For a quick reference guide to these bills of concern, please click HERE.

Written by Benjamin Smith

Last week, State Senator Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and State Representative Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) introduced legislation to legalize recreational marijuana for anyone 21 years-old or older. These bills (HB 2353 and SB 316) would not only legalize the sale and use of marijuana (possession limit of 28 grams which makes about 60 joints), but also allows people to grow marijuana in their homes or on property they own.

That is why this week’s podcast is so very important. … Continue Reading
