<p>Recently, <strong>Laura Hois</strong>, a <a href="https://hois4staterep.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">candidate</a> for State Representative District 81, successfully settled a <a href="https://mauckbaker.sharepoint.com/sites/MBExternalSharing/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2FMBExternalSharing%2FShared%20Documents%2FMB%2DOlivares%2F7358%2E00001%20Laura%20Hois%2FCourt%20Filings%2F01%5FComplaint%20%2811%2E06%2E2025%29%2Epdf&#38;parent=%2Fsites%2FMBExternalSharing%2FShared%20Documents%2FMB%2DOlivares%2F7358%2E00001%20Laura%20Hois%2FCourt%20Filings&#38;p=true&#38;ga=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> against the <strong>Downers Grove Park District</strong>.</p>
<p>In order to understand why this is cause for celebration, context is needed.</p>
<p>Her lawsuit states that on July 30, 2024 and other occasions, Hois was excessively deprived of exercising her freedom of speech.
