The U.S. Supreme Court does not hand down 8–1 rulings very often, especially on culture-war issues. So when this Court—this Court—lands almost unanimously on one side, it’s an earthquake.

Justices John Roberts, Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, AND the Court’s conservatives all converged to say a particular law in Colorado was unconstitutional. Cue the earthquake.

The case has to do with “conversion therapy.” The term has been deceitfully used by LGBTQ proponents for many years to equate it with a barbaric practice.… Continue Reading

Written by John Biver

In recent years Illinois has been experiencing fiscal and moral decay at an alarming rate. Leftist policies championed by the Democratic Party are the cause. Plain and simple. Voters unhappy with the state’s decline often look to the Republican Party to provide leadership to combat and reverse that decline. The problem is this — too many David Welter-like Republicans have been elected to office.

Republican State Rep. David Welter, who represents the 75th district which is centered in Morris, Illinois, and includes parts of Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, and Will counties, votes with the Democrats on too many important issues.… Continue Reading

Yesterday afternoon, the Illinois House Democrat Caucus met for 2-3 hours to discuss, among other things, the grotesquely misnamed “Reproductive Health Act.” If passed into law, this legislation would dramatically expand abortion–including Medicaid abortions–and usurp parental rights. We expect that the original proposal will be amended and a new (shell) bill number assigned.

Personal PAC, Planned Parenthood of Illinois, the ACLU of Illinois, along with State Representatives Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago), Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) and Robyn Gabel (D-Evanston) are pushing hard to revive this deadly measure before they adjourn for the summer on May 31st.… Continue Reading

In this week’s edition of Illinois Family Spotlight, Monte Larrick and Dave Smith sit down to talk with Bishop Lance Davis about the push to legalize recreational marijuana. Bishop Davis is the senior pastor of New Zion Covenant Church in Dolton, Illinois and chairman of the African American Clergy Coalition.

Background
Last year, Illinois State Senator Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and State Representative Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) introduced legislation to legalize recreational marijuana in Illinois (HB 2353) and began holding public hearings on the issue to build support and excitement for this insidious policy. … Continue Reading

Written by Benjamin Smith

Last week, State Senator Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and State Representative Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) introduced legislation to legalize recreational marijuana for anyone 21 years-old or older. These bills (HB 2353 and SB 316) would not only legalize the sale and use of marijuana (possession limit of 28 grams which makes about 60 joints), but also allows people to grow marijuana in their homes or on property they own.

That is why this week’s podcast is so very important. … Continue Reading
