When COVID-19 first emerged as a major issue in the news, Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) seized the opportunity to grant himself more power by declaring a state of emergency. Was Pritzker really under the impression that COVID-19 was such a major concern that he had to use these emergency powers? The U.S. Census Bureau’s experimental Household Pulse Survey, which is an online survey recording social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrates a dramatic shift towards homeschooling within the past year and a half. It’s shameful that it took so long to declare a national holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. But the nation’s first official Juneteenth holiday weekend got off to an inauspicious start, to say the very least.

CNN reported gun violence in multiple locations, including my own small town of Granger, Indiana.
