Illinois State Representative Barbara Hernandez (D-Aurora) and State Senator Celina Villanueva (D-Chicago) co-sponsored the bill, HB5093.

This bill would expand in-state tuition eligibility for students who are here illegally attending a public Illinois university. Lawmakers want to make sure that illegal immigrants receive the same tuition reduction perks as legal, law-abiding Illinois residents.

Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, this bill passed both Houses with Democrats in favor and Republicans in opposition.

JB Pritzker appointed Dulce Quintero in September 2023 as Secretary of the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), making Quintero the first gender-confused appointee to lead a statewide agency in Illinois. She was re-appointed and confirmed by Illinois Senate Democrats earlier this week.

On Thursday, June 12th, during a U.S. House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing titled “A Hearing with Sanctuary State Governors,” Governor JB Pritzker was confronted about Illinois’ sanctuary policies and their perceived impact on public safety and state resources.

U.S. Representatives Mary Miller (R-Quincy) and Darin LaHood (R-Peoria) grilled Illinois Governor JB Pritzker on the devastating consequences of his sanctuary policies and his failure to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. 

Miller highlighted the tragic murders committed by illegal aliens in Illinois who should never have been allowed into America, emphasizing that these policies are putting American lives at risk:

Illegal aliens in our state have overwhelmed local communities, causing untold pain and suffering, while costing Illinois taxpayers billions.

Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly just passed HB 5164 in the Illinois Senate by a vote of 33 to 16. This bill, which passed in the Illinois House back on April 18, 2024 by a vote of 67-39, will make it almost impossible to find illegal immigrants with a criminal history and/or those who have committed crimes while on American soil, for the purpose of deportation.

In response, Illinois State Senator Neil Anderson (R-Aledo), posted the following information on his Facebook page:
