IFA Endorsements for the 2020 Primary Election

Written by David E. Smith

Early voting has already begun for the March 17th primary election. We hope and pray that Christian voters in Illinois will come out in droves to cast their ballots to support pro-life, pro-family candidates. Prior to going to the polls, make sure you know where your candidates stand on issues important to people of faith by checking out IFI’s voting resources.

Illinois Family Action is today announcing its list of “endorsed”candidates. At the top of the ticket is the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. We are delighted to endorse Mark Curran, a strong supporter of traditional marriage, an advocate for the sanctity of life with no exceptions, and a strong defender of religious liberty.

In November, the Republican nominee will face the number two Democrat in the U.S. Senate, Dick Durbin. Durbin must go. He has served in Congress for 37 interminable years, and Illinois now ranks at the bottom of the barrel of states on virtually every measure. Durbin is so extreme that he has said that membership in the Democratic Party requires support for abortion. Even worse, he opposes medical care for babies who survive abortion.

Another key race for the U.S. House of Representatives features West Point graduate, mother of five, and economic and social conservative Jeanne Ives who aims to take on the left-wing incumbent and fan of anti-Christian Dan Savage, Sean Casten. IFA enthusiastically endorses Jeanne Ives for U.S. House District 6. Jeanne has also received the endorsement of the Susan B. Anthony List for her stellar pro-life record.

There are two other U.S. House primary contests that have our attention: In the 14th District, IFA endorses businessman James Marter who is trying to break out of a crowded race and has been endorsed by former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Mary Miller, who is a strong fiscal and social conservative running for the 15th District, has been endorsed by FreedomWorks.

In the Illinois Senate District 25, we are thrilled to endorse Jeanette Ward, a courageous school board member and pro-family activist from Elgin’s U-46. Also noteworthy is freshman State Representative Darren Bailey‘s decision to run for the vacant Illinois Senate seat in the 55th Senate District. Both of these candidates have proven to be bold pro-family voices on key family and social issues.

This primary election is critical for the direction of pro-family issues in Illinois. We support these candidates because they have articulated a personal commitment, or have a proven public-voting record on pro-family bedrock principles.

Please vote in the primary, and urge friends, neighbors, and family members to do likewise. We have been blessed with the privilege of self-government. Don’t squander it.

Illinois must get rid of lawmakers like Dick Durbin and Sean Casten who heartily endorse human slaughter, the sexual integration of private spaces, and economic policies that gouge taxpayers and have resulted in a mass exodus from Illinois, which, in turn, further burdens the remaining Illinoisans.

We look forward to working with these candidates to advance pro-family policies once they are in office.  Below is a comprehensive list of our picks:
